The NWS New York NY has scheduled a SKYWARN Spotter Training Class in Mahwah, Bergen County N.J. on Tuesday evening (7:00pm EDT) August 6, 2013 (the class should take about 2 hours).

The Class will be in the Hall of Heroes auditorium at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute:

This class is being offered for anyone and everyone interested in becoming a trained SKYWARN Spotter for the National Weather Service and also for all current Spotters looking to re-training. (Note, in order to be kept active and listed in the NWS’s Spotter Database a Trained Spotter must update their training at least once every 3 years at a SKYWARN Class).

You do not need to live in Bergen or Passaic County, or just New Jersey to attend this Class, anyone from anywhere is welcome to attend!

This class, as are all official NWS SKYWARN Classes, is totally free of charge and will be lead by a meteorologist from the NWS New York NY. SKYWARN Spotters provide an integral part in the Warning processes for Severe Weather and SKYWARN Training is open to everyone over the age of 16 (special consideration maybe given to those under 16 upon request).
